Offered Here: Ted Nugent "Damn Yankees" Studio Used 1952-1964 Cherry Red Gibson SG Jr. With COA

Item Details: Take home a true piece of vintage mojo with this beautiful cherry red Gibson SG Jr. from the private collection of legendary guitar tech Zeke Clark. Bearing the Gibson serial number 233220, this classic instrument features extensive, authentic finish crazing throughout the body, well-worn frets, and noticeable rust on its single powerhouse pickup. This exact guitar has an extraordinary rock-and-roll pedigree, having been used by Ted Nugent during the recording of the self-titled debut Damn Yankees album.

The original warped pickguard is missing a small piece near a screw and features a hasty, unverified vintage inscription reading "Les Paul 64 SG Jr built for Mary," adding a layer of mysterious intrigue to an already historic guitar. This classic road-worn instrument is sold strictly as is and comes complete with a premium plush-lined hardshell case and a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), offering a rare opportunity to own a golden-era rock machine with incredible character.

Provenance/Authenticity: Randall "Zeke" Clark is a renowned luthier and legendary guitar/amp technician who got his start in the San Francisco music scene in the 70s, working with various A-list artists until moving to LA in the 80s, where he worked for Eddie Van Halen.

From 1985 to 1993, he served as Edward Van Halen’s lead guitar and amp tech, transitioning to the crew with Sammy Hagar to maintain the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras.

Beyond his historic tenure as the custodian of Eddie's tone, Clark's elite five-decade career includes building, repairing, and maintaining specialized gear for iconic artists such as Prince, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Heart, Poison, and others. This curated selection of items offers collectors a unique and direct connection to rock history through the hands of a master craftsman who shaped the sound of guitar royalty.

This item was personally handled, vetted, and released by Zeke Clark, ensuring its authenticity and rock-history provenance. Zeke Clark utilizes an Official Personal Signature Stamp to validate and inventory documents and artifacts released directly from his private estate. This item comes with his personal ink-imprinted signature stamp on the certificate of authenticity, which serves as his legally binding, authorized mark of verification and carries the full weight of a hand-signed signature.

Damn Yankees formed in 1989 as a supergroup bringing together guitarist Ted Nugent, Styx guitarist-vocalist Tommy Shaw, Night Ranger bassist-vocalist Jack Blades, and drummer Michael Cartellone. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1990, blended Nugent's aggressive hard-rock guitar style with the melodic, harmony-driven songwriting of Shaw and Blades, and the power ballad "High Enough" became a top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The project revitalized Nugent's career at the turn of the decade and stands as one of the more commercially successful examples of the arena-rock supergroup format in the final years before grunge reshaped mainstream rock.

Condition: Vintage guitar, as is. Crazing throughout the cherry red finish with heavy wear to the rear and dings and wear throughout.
