Offered Here: Small Faces 1966 Sophia Gardens Pavillion Handbill. This auction presents a piece of 1960s concert ephemera: an original handbill for the Small Faces at the Sophia Gardens Pavilion in Cardiff, dated Saturday, April 9th, 1966. This lineup features the band alongside American soul group Martha and the Vandellas and pop artist Lou Christie, documenting a rare cross-Atlantic musical showcase. Measuring approximately 5 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches, this oversized bill exemplifies the era’s diverse touring packages.

Additional Information: In 1966, the Small Faces were at the height of their early fame, known for hits like “Sha-La-La-La-Lee.” This particular concert was part of a UK tour that saw the band performing with international acts, blending influences from both sides of the Atlantic. These concerts were notable for bringing together different musical styles and were part of the vibrant live music scene in Britain during the mid-1960s.

Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.

Condition: The handbill is in remarkably good condition, with very little sign of wear, aging, or storage. Its crisp presentation and clean edges make it a premier choice for collectors of Small Faces memorabilia or fans of the mid-60s British touring circuit. Measuring 5 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches, it retains its original form with no tears or discoloration.
