Item Details: This is a spectacular, museum-quality piece of glam metal history featuring a stunning, custom-stylized in-house sales award commemorating an incredible 15 million copies sold of Poison's first four definitive albums. This impressive multi-album presentation honors the monumental commercial legacy of Look What the Cat Dragged In, Open Up and Say...AHH!, Flesh & Blood, and Swallow This Live, spanning the band's absolute peak years from 1986 to 1992. Adding unparalleled insider provenance, this award is officially presented to Zeke Clark, the legendary guitar technician who worked closely with some of rock's biggest names. Measuring approximately 17 x 21 inches, this beautiful and unique award serves as the ultimate visual tribute to one of the most successful and enduring bands of the hair metal era.
Provenance/Authenticity: Randall "Zeke" Clark is a renowned luthier and legendary guitar/amp technician who got his start in the San Francisco music scene in the 70s, working with various A-list artists until moving to LA in the 80s, where he worked for Eddie Van Halen.
From 1985 to 1993, he served as Edward Van Halen’s lead guitar and amp tech, transitioning to the crew with Sammy Hagar to maintain the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras.
Beyond his historic tenure as the custodian of Eddie's tone, Clark's elite five-decade career includes building, repairing, and maintaining specialized gear for iconic artists such as Prince, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Heart, Poison, and others. This curated selection of items offers collectors a unique and direct connection to rock history through the hands of a master craftsman who shaped the sound of guitar royalty.
This item was personally handled, vetted, and released by Zeke Clark, ensuring its authenticity and rock-history provenance. Zeke Clark utilizes an Official Personal Signature Stamp to validate and inventory documents and artifacts released directly from his private estate. This item comes with his personal ink-imprinted signature stamp on the certificate of authenticity, which serves as his legally binding, authorized mark of verification and carries the full weight of a hand-signed signature.
Poison, formed in Pennsylvania by Bret Michaels, C.C. DeVille, Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett before relocating to Los Angeles in the mid-1980s, became one of the most commercially successful bands of the glam metal movement, combining pop-oriented hooks with a flamboyant visual style suited to the MTV era. Their 1986 debut Look What the Cat Dragged In established them on radio and video channels, and the 1988 follow-up Open Up and Say...Ahh! produced the power ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. With Flesh & Blood in 1990 and the concert album Swallow This Live in 1991, the band remained a major arena draw through the end of the hair metal era, and their run of hit singles and multi-platinum releases made them one of the defining acts of late-1980s American hard rock.
Condition: The award is preserved in particularly good condition, presenting a beautiful front display with only common signs of wear, aging, and storage consistent with a vintage music industry artifact. On the reverse, the original backing paper is completely absent from this award, exposing the back of the frame and display construction, which is a common occurrence for handled industry pieces and does not detract from the striking visual appeal of the front presentation.
