Offered Here: KISS 1978 Double Platinum Promotional Advertising Transparency
Item Details: Offered here is a captivating piece of music industry history featuring a KISS 1978 Double Platinum promotional and advertising transparency. This rare artifact is a black and white transparency depicting the striking artwork from the legendary rock band's hit compilation album, Double Platinum. Originally produced for industry use, this item was designed to facilitate promotional printing and media advertising layout campaigns during a monumental era in the group's career. The total transparency sheet dimension measures approximately 11 3/4 x 14 1/2 inches. A unique and practical relic from the pre-digital era of music marketing, this item represents an incredible display piece for advanced collectors of rock music memorabilia and graphic design history.
Released by Casablanca Records in 1978, Double Platinum was KISS's first greatest-hits compilation, gathering songs from the band's 1970s studio albums into newly remixed versions and adding a re-recorded "Strutter '78." Its embossed silver-foil packaging reflected the elaborate presentation Casablanca gave KISS during the band's commercial peak. The same year also brought the four simultaneously released solo albums by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, along with a broad expansion of KISS-branded merchandise that helped define rock marketing in the late 1970s.
Condition: This archival advertising transparency is preserved in very good condition, showing common signs of wear, ageing, and storage consistent with premium vintage media materials. There is red marker or paint present on the verso, along with a stray piece of tape, though neither flaw detracts from the visual quality of the front image. The delicate film surface retains excellent clarity with minimal handling marks or surface scuffs, ensuring the historic visual elements remain sharp and well-defined for presentation or framing.
