Offered Here: KISS 1974 Debut Album RIAA Gold Record Award Presented to Peter ‘Moose’ Oreckinto

Item Details: An official KISS RIAA gold record award for the 1974 self-titled debut album, presented to Peter ‘Moose’ Oreckinto. This award is a re-issue from the early 2000s. It measures 17.25 x 21.25 inches and is in very good overall condition, with some light scuffs to the Plexi and wear to the frame. It has the original Dejay Products LLC stickers (2) on the back of the award. This award comes directly from the private collection of Peter ‘Moose’ Oreckinto and will be accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity, signed by Oreckinto.

Provenance / Authenticity: Peter ‘Moose’ Oreckinto is best known for being an original member of the KISS road crew and for helping to engineer and develop many of their early stage effects and gear. He joined the band in September of 1973 and was primarily brought in as the drum technician for Peter Criss. He eventually parted ways with the band after the 1976 ‘Destroyer’ tour.

Released in February 1974 on Neil Bogart's newly founded Casablanca Records, KISS's self-titled debut introduced the original lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, along with songs such as "Strutter," "Deuce," "Black Diamond" and "Cold Gin" that became permanent fixtures of the band's concerts. Although the album sold modestly at first, KISS built its audience through relentless touring and a theatrical stage show of makeup, costumes, pyrotechnics and effects. The album's eventual gold status reflected how the band's live reputation turned its early catalog into lasting commercial successes.
