Item Details: Drop the needle on an absolute holy grail of rock history with this original 10-inch acetate for Jimi Hendrix’s legendary masterpiece, "All Along The Watchtower". Dating back to 1967–1968, this ultra-rare artifact was officially reviewed and archived for the Jimi Hendrix Estate under the expert supervision of John McDermott alongside legendary mastering engineer George Marino. The acetate is in good condition, featuring a classic, authentic insider touch with the word "OK" written on each side in white grease pencil from its original studio evaluation.
Jimi Hendrix recorded "All Along the Watchtower," a song Bob Dylan had released on his 1967 album John Wesley Harding, beginning in early 1968 at Olympic Studios in London with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and the track appeared on the double album Electric Ladyland later that year. Hendrix transformed Dylan's spare acoustic composition into a layered, electric arrangement built around several distinct guitar passages, and the single became his highest-charting release in the United States. Dylan later said he was so struck by the recording that he adopted elements of Hendrix's approach in his own live performances, and the song is widely cited as one of the most influential cover versions in rock music.
Condition: Good condition with grease pencil marks on the front and back that do not affect the grooved areas
