Offered Here: Frank Beard 1983-1984 Pair of Eliminator Tour Tub Whacker Signature Sticks
Item Details: Up for auction is an authentic pair of Frank Beard 1983–1984 "Tub Whacker" tour-issued signature drumsticks, dating from ZZ Top's iconic Eliminator Tour era. These Pro-Mark Hickory drumsticks remain unused and are inside their original vintage packaging. While the sticks themselves are in very good condition, the original plastic bag displays expected age and wear from storage.
Provenance / Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the personal collection of John Douglas, premier drum technician and custom designer for Alex Van Halen from 1997 to 2015. Over a prolific career spanning decades in the rock industry, Douglas has served as a trusted tour technician and custom builder for iconic acts including Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Bon Jovi, and Maná. Renowned for his striking visual craftsmanship, he has personally built and custom-painted drum kits for elite musicians such as Chad Smith, Vinnie Paul, Iron Maiden, and Guns N' Roses. This item is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity individually hand-signed by John Douglas.
Frank Beard joined ZZ Top in 1969 and, alongside Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill, kept the Texas trio's lineup unchanged for more than five decades, anchoring its blues-rock boogie with a steady, economical shuffle. The band's 1983 album Eliminator brought synthesizers and sequenced rhythms into that sound and became its commercial peak, eventually earning RIAA Diamond certification, while MTV videos for "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs" made the group's beards and red Ford coupe recognizable worldwide. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Condition: Sticks, very good, unused. Bag shows signs of age and wear from storage.
