Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, the Eagles became one of the defining acts of the Southern California country-rock sound, and their compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) ranks among the best-selling albums in United States history. After disbanding in 1980, the group reunited in 1994 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, cementing its place in American popular music.
