Offered Here: America 1976 Hideaway Tour Varsity Crew Jacket
Item Details: This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a rare piece of vintage tour apparel featuring an original 1976 crew varsity jacket from America's Hideaway Tour. Produced by the renowned Kaye Bros brand, this authentic tour jacket commemorates the band's mid-1970s era following the release of their hit album produced by the legendary George Martin. The jacket beautifully encapsulates the classic 1970s rock crew aesthetic, making it a highly desirable piece for collectors of rock and roll fashion and vintage tour ephemera alike. While the original size tag is no longer present, the jacket measures approximately 22 inches from pit to pit with a length of 27 inches, offering an iconic and collectible silhouette.
America formed in London in the late 1960s when Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek, sons of U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in England, began blending acoustic guitars and close vocal harmonies into a style that became a defining sound of 1970s soft rock. The trio reached number one in the United States with "A Horse with No Name" in 1972, won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and returned to the top of the charts in 1975 with "Sister Golden Hair." Their mid-1970s collaboration with Beatles producer George Martin, which included the 1976 album Hideaway, brought more polished arrangements to their work, and the period remains one of the most commercially successful in their long career.
Condition: The jacket is in very good condition, presenting excellently while displaying common signs of wear, aging, and storage appropriate for its vintage age. The garment shows minor wear and natural pilling concentrated around the elastic knit areas at the collar, cuffs, and bottom hem. The body of the jacket remains structurally sound and intact, serving as a well-preserved artifact from a landmark 1970s rock tour.
