Dream Theater was formed in Massachusetts in 1985 when guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung, and drummer Mike Portnoy decided to form a band while attending the Berkeley College of Music. Initially name Majesty, the quintet officially became Dream Theater as of 1987.
For the first eight years - from the origins of Majesty in 1985 through the end of the "Images & Words" world tour in 1993 - Mike Portnoy used this set of 7 drum cases to transport his kit in. The set consists of two 24" bass drum cases, one 14" snare case, two rack tom cases and two floor tom cases.
The cases have been stenciled with the famous Dream Theater name and logo and are richly decorated with stickers, backstage passes and flight labels. They show their age and mileage, which only adds more character. It is without question one of the oldest and most historic Dream Theater and Mike Portnoy collections one could ever own!
This monumental set currently resides at the home studio of Mike Portnoy from where it will be shipped. Mike will sign and / or personalize the cases for you. Local pick-up from a nearby facility can be arranged. The shipping fees will be significant, especially outside of the US.
