ZZ Top formed in Houston, Texas, in 1969, and the trio of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard kept the same lineup for more than five decades until Hill's death in 2021, making them one of the longest-running unchanged lineups in rock. Built on Texas blues and boogie, the band broke through with albums such as Tres Hombres (1973), featuring "La Grange," and reached a mass audience in the MTV era with Eliminator (1983), whose videos for "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs" helped make the album a multi-platinum success. ZZ Top were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and remained a steady touring act for decades.
