Item Details: Available for your consideration is a spectacular and exceptionally rare literary artifact from the pinnacle of the psych-folk and glam rock movement with this 1969 first edition of Marc Bolan's only book of poetry, The Warlock of Love. This scarce hardcover volume has been personally autographed by the legendary T. Rex frontman on the front endpaper, beautifully inscribed love Marc Bolan in classic blue biro. Published just as the band was transitioning into an international music phenomenon, this highly collectible book offers a deeply intimate look into Bolan's brilliant creative mind.
Provenance / Authenticity: Roger Epperson Authentication Limited (REAL) CoA is included.
Marc Bolan first drew attention in the late 1960s with Tyrannosaurus Rex, an acoustic duo whose mystical, fantasy-laden lyrics made them a fixture of London's underground scene and reflected the same imaginative world found in his poetry. After shortening the band's name to T. Rex and adopting electric guitar, Bolan reached a mass audience in the early 1970s with UK No. 1 singles such as "Hot Love" and "Get It On," and he is widely credited as a key figure in the birth of glam rock. His influence on later artists in glam, punk and alternative rock has endured well beyond his death in a 1977 car crash at the age of 29.
Condition: The hardcover book itself is in good condition, featuring a strong, fully intact binding and only a small amount of wear along the cover edges. Internally, there is light staining present on some of the pages, as well as vintage Scotch tape remnants on the back of the front endpaper and the title page where a photo or news clipping was previously affixed. The dust jacket is in good to fair condition, showing extensive wear and creasing along the top and bottom edges. There are small tears located at the bottom of the spine, along with significantly larger tears along the top of the spine and the cover edge.
