Offered Here: Small Faces 1977 Lookin' For a Love b/w Kayoed (By Luv) Acetate & Single Lot. This collection includes a rare double-sided acetate and a retail single from the Small Faces' 1977 reunion era. The highlight is the authentic double-sided acetate from Abbey Road Studios, featuring 'Lookin' For a Love' and 'Kayoed (By Luv)' from the album Playmates. This studio reference disc provides insight into the production process of the band’s late-seventies work. Accompanying the acetate is a new old stock copy of the corresponding single release, providing a complete view of the tracks' journey from studio to public.
Additional Information: In 1977, the Small Faces reunited after splitting in the late 1960s, releasing the album Playmates, which marked the first time the group had recorded together in nearly a decade. Their reunion was spurred by both nostalgia and the burgeoning rock scene of the era. The album consisted of a blend of original members and new influences, reflecting the evolving musical landscape of the late 1970s.
Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.
Condition: The Abbey Road acetate is in exceptionally good condition, showing minimal signs of wear, aging, or storage—rare for such sensitive studio artifacts. The accompanying retail single is in pristine, new old stock condition, looking as it did upon its original release. Together, these items offer an archival-quality reflection of a significant moment in the Small Faces' history.
