This flyer highlights a powerhouse month of performances at the venue, including appearances by The Who and the Cryin' Shames. Measuring approximately 5 x 8 1/2 inches, this artifact serves as a record of the legendary acts that defined the British beat scene during the spring of '66.
Additional Information: The Small Faces, formed in London in 1965, were central to the Mod movement and became known for their energetic live performances. By 1966, the band had gained significant popularity with hits such as "Sha-La-La-La-Lee" and "Hey Girl," both of which reached the UK Top 10. The Worthing Big Beat Sessions where this handbill originates showcased key bands of the era, placing the Small Faces alongside other influential groups such as The Who and The Cryin' Shames, illustrating the band's integral role in the vibrant British music scene of the 1960s.
Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.
Condition: The handbill is in very good condition, showing character-defining signs of wear, aging, and storage. It has been previously folded three times and exhibits minor edge wear along with some handwritten pen notations at various event entries. These markings provide a unique, personal glimpse into the original owner's concert-going experience without compromising the historical integrity of the piece.
