Queen entered the 1980s as one of rock's most commercially successful bands, with Freddie Mercury's theatrical command of large audiences and Brian May's layered guitar work on his homemade "Red Special" defining a sound that filled stadiums worldwide. The decade brought chart hits such as "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," along with extensive international touring that took the band to South America and other markets rarely visited by Western rock acts at the time. Their 20-minute set at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in July 1985 is frequently cited as one of the finest live performances in rock history and renewed the band's popularity in the years before Mercury's death in 1991.
