Item Details: This phenomenal rock & roll artifact features a single, museum-quality 8 x 10-inch black-and-white photograph capturing virtuosic guitarist Brian May mid-strum with his iconic, custom-built Red Special guitar during Queen's landmark 1977 tour. Freezing a high-energy moment of technical brilliance from the band's golden era, this highly collectible print is personally signed by acclaimed photographer Waring Abbott and hand-numbered 1 of only 2.

Provenance / Authenticity: The items in this lot are sourced directly from the personal archives of renowned photojournalist Waring Abbott. Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.

Brian May's guitar sound is one of the most distinctive in rock, built around the Red Special, an instrument he constructed with his father Harold in the early 1960s from materials including wood from an old fireplace mantel, and played with a sixpence coin in place of a conventional pick. In the studio May layered multiple guitar parts into orchestral harmonies that became central to Queen's sound, and as a songwriter he contributed "We Will Rock You," released on the band's 1977 album News of the World. During the late 1970s Queen became one of the leading arena acts on both sides of the Atlantic, and May's playing was a defining element of their success.
