Item Details: This premier offering features an ultra rare red European concert poster advertising Nirvana on their early European tour, performing as the supporting act for Tad at the Nighttown venue in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on November 1, 1989. These promotional posters are virtually non-existent on the open market, and this landmark offering marks one of the few times this specific red variant has ever been made available at public auction. Sourced directly from an individual closely associated with Nirvana during the band's formative Bleach era, this museum quality artifact represents one of only two known examples in existence, making it an ultimate centerpiece for the most advanced rock and roll memorabilia collections.
In late 1989 Nirvana made their first tour of Europe, travelling with fellow Sub Pop act Tad in support of their debut album Bleach, released on the Seattle label that June. The tour helped build an audience for Nirvana and the emerging Seattle scene in Britain and continental Europe well before the band broke through in the United States. Two years later, Nirvana's major-label album Nevermind and its single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" carried grunge and alternative rock into the mainstream, reshaping popular music in the early 1990s.
Condition: The poster is in very good condition, displaying common signs of wear, ageing, and storage consistent with an authentic 1980s underground music promotional piece. It was folded three times historically, resulting in some light spider veining along the fold lines, and exhibits several instances of tape residue along the top and side borders. Despite these minor vintage characteristics, the corners and edges remain predominantly sharp and clean, preserving the vibrant visual impact of this near mythical piece of grunge history.
