Provenance / Authenticity: Sold in 2001 through the official Lelands KISS Auction
Formed in New York in 1973, KISS built one of rock's most devoted fan bases, the KISS Army, through face paint, pyrotechnics and a merchandising operation that set a template for how a band could market itself. During the 1990s the group increasingly turned to longform home video to document its own history, mixing concert footage, archival material and behind-the-scenes clips for fans who followed every lineup and era. The decade's turning point came with the 1995 MTV Unplugged appearance and the 1996 reunion of the original lineup in full makeup, whose Alive/Worldwide Tour ranked among the highest-grossing tours of that year and renewed the band's standing as a major live attraction.
Condition: The video camera and its accompanying production gear are in very good condition, showing common signs of wear, aging, and storage consistent with professional field use in the 1990s. The exterior casing of the Sony recorder and the faux leather carrying case exhibit light scuffs and minor age-related cosmetic wear, but maintain solid structural integrity. All included accessories, cords, and lenses remain well-preserved within the specialized compartments of the protective case.
