Formed in San Francisco in 1973 by guitarist Neal Schon and bassist Ross Valory, Journey became one of the most commercially successful American rock bands, with songs such as "Don't Stop Believin'" remaining fixtures of radio and popular culture decades after their release. After longtime singer Steve Perry departed in the late 1990s, the band recruited vocalist Steve Augeri and drummer Deen Castronovo, continuing to tour arenas and releasing the studio albums Arrival and Generations along with the Red 13 EP. This period sustained the group as a working recording and touring act between the Perry years and the arrival of Arnel Pineda in 2007, and Journey was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
