Offered Here: Jimi Hendrix 1969 Toronto John Rowlands Numbered & Signed Photo Print
Item Details: A phenomenal relic of rock lore, this powerful 1969 photograph chronicles Jimi Hendrix during his legendary performance at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Captured on stage just hours after his notorious airport drug arrest and subsequent release on bail, this image immortalizes a high-stakes, charged moment in rock history. Impeccably framed in time by master rock photojournalist John Rowlands, this authentic black and white giclee print is individually numbered 300 from a scarce total edition of 500 copies and features the artist's handwritten signature. With dimensions spanning roughly 12 3/4 by 15 1/4 inches, this document of musical genius is a top-tier investment piece for any elite pop-culture gallery.
Jimi Hendrix changed the vocabulary of the electric guitar in a career of only about four years, using feedback, distortion and studio experimentation to expand what rock music could sound like, most notably on the Jimi Hendrix Experience albums Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold as Love and Electric Ladyland. On May 3, 1969, Hendrix was arrested at Toronto's airport after customs officials said they found drugs in his luggage, and after being released on bail he went ahead with that night's concert at Maple Leaf Gardens with the Experience. He was acquitted at his trial in Toronto in December 1969, but the episode came during a turbulent year that saw the original Experience break up and Hendrix headline Woodstock.
Condition: The structural and cosmetic state of this vintage print is superlative. It survives in pristine shape, offering almost no indication of surface scuffing, yellowing from age, or storage-related deterioration.
