Offered Here: Faces 1970-1995 Lot of 8 U.S. Pressing LPs. This auction lot consists of an eight-piece collection of U.S. pressing LPs charting the career of the Faces and Rod Stewart's early solo success. Included are two copies of the band's 1970 debut, First Step, and two versions of their 1971 album, Long Player, each featuring unique promotional stickers on the jackets. The collection is complemented by the 1971 album A Nod's as Good as a Wink... to a Blind Horse and the 1973 live album Coast to Coast: Overture and Beginners. Also featured are two Rod Stewart solo LPs: The Rod Stewart Album and Every Picture Tells a Story, highlighting the band's distinctive blues-rock sound.
Additional Information: The Faces, formed in 1969 from the remaining members of the Small Faces after Steve Marriott left the group, included established musicians such as Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. They were known for their energetic live performances and fusion of rock and blues, gaining high acclaim in the early 1970s. Rod Stewart's solo career ran parallel to the band's activity, with albums like "Every Picture Tells a Story" achieving commercial success and cementing his position as a leading rock vocalist.
Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.
Condition: The vinyl records in this lot vary from good to very good condition, displaying visible signs of use and age but remaining playable. Surface marks or light scratches are present and may cause audible surface noise during quieter sections; however, the records should play through without skipping. The jackets show more pronounced wear, aging, and storage marks, including seam splits on the First Step covers, reflective of the collection's vintage nature and use.
