Formed in Sayreville, New Jersey, in 1983, Bon Jovi became one of the defining arena rock acts of the 1980s with the album Slippery When Wet and its hits "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer," then extended that success into a new century with the 2000 single "It's My Life." Through the 2000s the band continued to fill stadiums worldwide and even crossed into country music, winning a Grammy for "Who Says You Can't Go Home," a duet with Jennifer Nettles, while albums such as The Circle (2009) supported large-scale international tours. The partnership between Jon Bon Jovi and lead guitarist Richie Sambora shaped the band's sound and stage presence until Sambora's departure in 2013, and the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
