Offered Here: Billy Nicholls 1968 Would You Believe LP. This original 1968 pressing of "Would You Believe" by Billy Nicholls is an artifact from the psychedelic era, renowned for its extremely limited promotional run of only 100 copies due to the financial collapse of Immediate Records. Often associated with its baroque-pop sound, the album features the Small Faces as the backing band. This copy was owned by the late Small Faces and Faces keyboardist, Ian McLagan, who performed during the sessions.
Additional Information: "Would You Believe" was intended as Nicholls' debut album, produced by Immediate Records in 1968. Despite its limited release, the album has gained a cult following over time, particularly for its sophisticated production reminiscent of the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds." The Small Faces' involvement brought additional texture and depth, enhancing the lyrical and sonic richness of the work.
Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.
Condition: The vinyl record is in excellent condition, retaining its original luster and appearing exceptionally well-maintained. The jacket shows minor wear common with age, particularly along the edges, and has a small pencil notation reading M+S in the top back corner. Overall, the record and jacket have been preserved with the care indicative of a high-value personal archive.
