Ten years ago - in 2000 - artist Bob Masse was commissioned to design a commemorative Santana poster. This unique lot presents the original drawings and painting from this widely recognizable Carlos Santana poster. Included are;
1- The two very first black & white drawings that formed the very basis for Masse's Santana art. The left panel features the initial concept drawing, which measures 9 x 21 1/2 inches. The right panel holds the 2nd design, which now includes the borders and a partial background fill (this piece measures 11 x 23 inches). Both pieces have been professionally matted. The dimensions of the matting are 26 x 29 inches.
2- This features the final - and jaw-dropping - original artwork. Rich in detail and vibrant in color, this overwhelming artwork is a true 'labor of love'. The artwork itself measures 12 x 24 inches and has been professionally matted. The dimensions of the matting are 22 x 28 inches.
3- Before production printing of this Santana poster would commence, Bob Masse made printers' proof sheets to see if minor adjustments or alterations in the work had to be made before the production run was approved. Because only few of these proofs were made (and never publicly sold), they have become quite desirable to collectors. The sheet as featured in this lot measures 19 x 25 1/2 inches. Also, it has already been matted and measures 22 x 28 inches.
4- Last but not least we have included an original poster, which has been long sold out. This gorgeous poster measures 12 x 24 1/2 inches.
All four pieces have been individually hand signed by Bob Masse. The natural progression is absolutely sensational and once framed would form an absolute stunning display.
