Pavlov's Dog was a progressive rock/AOR band formed in 1972 in St. Louis, Missouri.
The band's debut "Pampered Menial" was briefly released in 1974 on ABC Records but then quickly re-issued by Columbia Records. Their second album "At the Sound of the Bell" (1976) featured Yes drummer Bill Bruford as a guest musician.
The band recorded a third album in 1977, but due to disappointing sales of the second album, Columbia refused to release it, hastening the band's split. The third album - aptly titled "Third" - finally appeared as a bootleg in the 1980s, a limited edition pressed from stolen master tapes. "Third" was finally released legally in 2007 by a German label under the new title "Has Anyone Here Seen Siegfried?".
Offered here are three most unique - and authentic -reels from the 3rd album recording sessions. The first reel - recorded at New York's Record Plant Studios - is a safety copy that contains 6 demos of songs that all would appear on "Third". This 1/4 inch reel (recorded at 15 I.P.S.) is dated September 21, 1976 and is in excellent condition.
Next is a set of two reels, containing the final mixes of the A & B side of "Third", mastered at The Cutting Room in New York. These reels too are 1/4 inch, 15 I.P.S tapes in pristine condition.
These are truly historic relics from an 'almost' forgotten chapter in prog-rock! |
