It is only fitting that Norm N. Nite, as one of America's most legendary disc-jockeys and accomplished music-history authors, has his own discography. Back in 1967, Laurie Records retained Norm to put together a compilation titled "Rock & Roll, Evolution or Revolution" (Laurie SLP-2044). This rare album features a selection of doo-wop, vocal group and rock & roll artists and in itself, has become a well sought-after record.
This attractive and historic lot features not only this fine album but more impressively the original acetate (hand dated 9/23/67), 2 test pressings and 3 front cover album slicks.
Following the success of Norm's "Rock On" book, Columbia Records offered him in 1975 a deal to produce a 2-LP compilation album, based on the contents of the book. This most attractive album set features the greatest doo-wop, vocal group and rock 'n roll artist from the 1950s and 1960s (Columbia X-698).
While the avid collector will be familiar with these 2 compilation albums, few know about Norm's 1971 own 7-inch single release as "Norm N. Nite And The Fabulous Fourtunes". Released on Globe International Records (Glo-107), this 45 RPM single featured "Good Old Rock n' Roll Music" on the A-Side and "Let's Try It Again" on the B-side. In addition to a trio of these fine singles, the lot includes a rare pair of 10-inch acetates for respectively the A and B side.
Lastly included is a copy of the 1975 "The Chiffons - Everything You Always Wanted To Hear By The Chiffons" (Laurie-4001) album, of which Norm N. Nite provided the liner notes on the back of the album.
The vinyl is in NM condition, whereas the acetates are generally in excellent shape. In all, this is a most historic collection of unique releases and one that is not likely to ever be presented anywhere again.
Further included is a great Norm N. Nite press kit that consists of 1970s and 1980s press releases, press photos, business cards and biography sheets (all in NM condition) |
