From the personal library of Norm N. Nite's radio days comes this overwhelming lot of 22 recording reels, containing interviews, specials, jingles and commercials. All tapes are from the early to mid 1970s and come in 10-inch, 7-inch and 5-inch reel format.
There is a phenomenal interview reel with Bill Haley, The Diamonds, Danny & The Juniors, Bo Diddley, The Four Tops, Conway Twitty, The Carpenters, Bo Diddley, Roy Orbison and others, which include short 1 to 2 minute interviews, alternated with a hit song by the artist, several full-one hour radio specials (WNBC, WCBS) and a very rare "History of Rock & Roll" radio special reel (syndicated show, with June 1962 date stamp on label, in film canister type tin).
Also included are several commercials, such as a great jingle recording for "McMasters" which was a happening club in New York in the 1970s. Among the tapes you will further find a fantastic interview tape with Rick Newman, who was owner of the "Catch A Rising Star" club in New York and later on became the manager of Pat Benater.
The reels, which are generally in excellent condition, are recorded at 15 IPS and 1/2-inch tape.
The rights to these interviews are currently held by Norm. N. Nite and are not included with the purchases of this lot. However, if the future owner is also interested to purchase the (transfer of) rights, than please contact Backstage Auctions for further information.
Further included is a great Norm N. Nite press kit that consists of 1970s and 1980s press releases, press photos, business cards and biography sheets (all in NM condition) |
