Following their earlier successes on Motown Records and their subsequent relocation to Los Angeles, the Jackson family started to host their annual 'Thank You' parties at their gated 'Hayvenhurst' mansion in appreciation of and for those who had been involved in their ever-growing popularity. In 1973, 16 Magazine was exclusively invited to photograph the festivities and featured in this incredibly amazing collection are 53 impressive 8 x 10 inch - original - photos, many of which never before seen.
In the utmost candid settings you'll see the Jackson brothers shooting hoops with members of The Temptations, Jermaine Jackson courting Hazal Gordy (daughter of Motown boss Barry Gordy, who he would go on to marry 2 years later) and even the oldest child and first daughter Maureen Jackson. Naturally, the majority of the photos center around Michael, La Toya and Janet but all other brothers, as well as Katherine and Joe (the parents) are frequently featured in this historic collection.
A small number of these photos has - in some capacity or another - been used for publication in 16 Magazine and bears the usual production signs such as measurement indicators, 'chalk-lines' and (red) pencil markings. Some of these appear in the white borders, others affect the actual photo. For the most part however, the photos are unmarked and generally in excellent condition. All photos are printed on professional photo paper and are first generation prints.
Further, please note that the photos in this lot are not offered with any transfer of ownership rights and that none can be used for commercial purposes. |
